Shepherd's Cottage - Sleeps 2-5
Saturday to Saturday |
One Dog Allowed £10 | Linen Not Provided | Open Fire
Shepherd's Cottage is situated on the hill above Aros bridge. It has the best views of all the cottages on the Glenaros estate with a superb panorama of Aros Castle and the Sound of Mull from the front garden.
The cottage was built by Duncan Fletcher, to house the estate shepherd, with stone from an earlier building on the site. This is a characterful property, with its own private access; a great base to explore Mull from.
The rear of the cottage was originally a byre for the shepherd to house his cow. The cottage was in continual use for the shepherd until the early 1960's, except for a period during the second world war when it was let to Captain Callum Black of the Lohinvar, one of David Macbrayne's most respected sea captains, who lived there with his five children!
The cottage now has a spacious kitchen with seating area, cosy lounge with open fire (and terrific views) on the ground floor, as well as a bathroom and small single room to the rear of the property. On the first floor there is a double room and twin room.
A garden surrounds the cottage with a picnic bench at the front for a great place to sit and read a book, or have a cup of tea in the morning, whilst taking in the view.
Best to book well in advance to avoid disappointment.
