Lochbuie Explore the area, things to do and more

The Bothy is situated in one of the Isle of Mull’s most beautiful & remote corners. Set behind the sandy bay of Laggan Sands at Lochbuie, the Bothy adjoins Laggan Farm where the owners reside. This is an outstanding location for those who love the outdoors, wildlife, walking and generally relaxing.

The drive to Lochbuie from where the ferry docks at Craignure is a beautiful one; at the end of your journey, you turn off the single track road onto a farm track which passes through mature deciduous woodland and open pastures before rounding a rocky headland - a dramatic approach to Laggan Farm and this lovely bit of coastline.

Entering the Bothy from the parking area there is a spacious porch with ample storage space. A glass door leads through to the living room has a multi fuel stove and outstanding views of the sea and mountains. Wi-fi is also provided as well as a selection of books and games.

The double bedroom also has sea views and features a huge double bed along with plenty of storage for belongings. The kitchen is well equipped and has a breakfast bar at the window where you can take in the surrounds and enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning.

There are fantastic walks right from the doorstep; heading southwest following the coast past the old chapel, a track follows the south coast of Lochbuie. Heading northwest past the 15th century Moy Castle, the beaches and pebble shores of Lochbuie lead to a track along the north shore which can be followed all the way to Carsaig. Refreshments and local produce and crafts can also be purchased at the Old Post Office in Lochbuie.

The large sandy beach at Laggan makes for a fantastic place to stretch the legs or do a spot of sunbathing, wildlife watching or photography. The views toward the mountain peak of Ben Buie are excellent. Rugged hills rise to the rear of the Bothy and a track can be followed offering a fine vantage point. You may be lucky enough to see sea eagles, golden eagles, otters, red deer or even wild goats roaming the shoreline.

An added bonus of staying at The Bothy is that the owner can also provide home cooked 'ready meals' made using local produce for your arrival, further details will be provided for guests when booking.
