So much more than simply a comfortable place to stay, Torrbreac promises an experience in its own right. This is a home you’ll feel you can really live in, as you throw open the patio doors to enjoy bean-to-cup coffee each morning with a view of the loch, or hop atop a bar stool to enjoy a glass of white fresh from the dedicated wine fridge while dinner takes shape. As you turn up the surround sound and kick back with a movie after nightfall on the plush sofas, or as the competition hots up in the dedicated games room.

And believe it or not, it only gets better when you venture outside. The patio is a highlight, whether you take a seat to dine alfresco or simply enjoy the views, with a fragrant wisteria climbing over the walls behind you and a gorgeous view to the loch in front. Then come the paths that meander around this undulating garden, tempting you to venture yet further onto the neighbouring Quinish estate. From the front of the house, you can also cross the lane and amble down a private path to the shore of Loch Cuin, an excellent spot for otters.

Torrbreac spans two spacious floors, with guests entering through a roomy porch, from which the games room leads, into a huge open-plan dining kitchen and living room. Your eyes are instantly drawn to the central fireplace, with twin wood burning stoves flanking each side, to keep both the dining kitchen and living area ultra-cosy with the ambient glow of a real fire. There’s oodles of space to spread out and relax after a day of hiking, wildlife watching or island hopping and with a large television in both the living room and kitchen, no one need miss a moment’s entertainment.

The dining kitchen will be a chef’s delight, as family and friends pull up a stool to chat with the chef, who will be in their element with a large American-style fridge freezer, double oven, dishwasher and Esse Aga. Not to forget the finer details too, like the Jura bean-to-cup coffee machine that enables you to tailor the strength for the perfect caffeine fix, and the sleek wine fridge that promises bottled perfection every time. A separate utility with laundry facilities and a farmhouse sink keeps the practicalities within reach, but elegantly out of sight.

Venturing upstairs, Torrbreac's three main bedrooms are each served by their own bathroom. The master feels wonderfully restorative with triple aspect views to the loch, woodland and hill filling the space with light and a super-king sized bed promising an irresistibly deep sleep. The en-suite bathroom is a space to unwind and relax with a long soak in the bath tub before being enveloped by fluffy towels.

The second double benefits from an en-suite bathroom too and promises total comfort with a roomy king-sized bed. The third main bedroom, a charming twin room, is served by the 'Jack and Jill' shower room. Each of the three main bedrooms promises plenty of space to unpack and make yourselves at home, and for families visiting the cottage, there is a fourth bedroom available, set up perfectly for a child with a charming child's size single bunk bed.

Tucked on the edge of the leafy woodlands of the Quinish Estate, Torrbreac feels wonderfully private in a setting surrounded by nature. And yet this location comes with ease, with the village shop, pub and even a fine dining restaurant all within walking distance, and, despite the wonderfully wild views, the luxury of superfast Starlink internet too.

Tear yourselves away from this undeniably luxurious base and some of the island's finest experiences await, from the white horseshoe-shaped bay at Calgary only 10 minutes to the west, to the superb boat trips to see Staffa and the Treshnish Isles, with your choice of departing from buzzy and vibrant Tobermory's harbourfront pontoons or the altogether sleepier scenic shores of Ulva Ferry. Wildlife tours can be arranged with collection from the cottage and the stunning walk to Quinish Point beckons from the door.

Torrbreac is a Hebridean homestay that promises memory making in abundance - the kind you'll want to come back and relive every year!
