Tobermory Explore the area, things to do and more

14 Victoria Street is located in Tobermory, the Isle of Mull’s bright and colourful main town. This stylish, self-catering holiday cottage sleeps up to four people, welcomes pets and provides a superb base from which to explore the island for the whole family.

Set up on the hillside above Tobermory’s main street, Victoria Street is a wide residential street of stone built cottages with easy parking on the road beside the cottage. It’s thanks to this location that you get such brilliant views from this cottage – from the doorstep alone you’ll enjoy sights of Tobermory’s bustling harbour, with Calve island and Ardnamurchan in the distance!

Entering the cottage there is a hallway, with room for shoes, boots and coats. A nice feature wall here gives guests a taste of the style of this well presented, cosy cottage. A doorway leads through to the living room, which is semi-open plan, with the kitchen and dining area.

The living area is comfortably furnished with a cool, eclectic, contemporary mix of furniture and artwork. This stylish space has a wood burning stove at the centre and there are lots of nice features, like the wall of shelving behind the large sofa, which houses a selection of reading material about the local area, as well as some board games and childrens' toys and books – the perfect family entertainment for evenings in during your stay.

In the kitchen, the dining table comfortably seats four with pretty views out over the rear garden. The kitchen itself is modern and well equipped with everything you need for a self-catering holiday. There is plenty of workspace and storage. On a sunny day, you’ll love to throw open the double doors, which lead to the patio and garden, which is fully enclosed.

From the living room you enter a hallway and doors lead to the bedrooms and bathroom. The double bedroom with king sized bed is to the front of the cottage. This is a beautifully furnished room, with lots of storage space for belongings, quality bedding and lovely pieces of furniture adding to the ambience. The second bedroom is to the rear of the cottage and features built in bunk beds, each with a reading lamp. There is also built in storage space, a set of drawers and views over the rear garden.

The family bathroom is located off the hallway between the two bedrooms. It is a contemporary, well-appointed room with bath with shower over, w.c. and basin. A skylight helps make this a very bright room too.

The cottage has an enclosed garden, which can be accessed from the cottage, and also via the garden gate which leads into a little lane (pedestrian only). There is an area of lawn and two patio areas with a shed that contains more outdoor seating, and a barbeque for sunny days. This is the perfect spot for your morning cup of coffee as you watch the sun rise and for alfresco dining.

Tobermory is the Isle of Mull’s main town and the shops and cafes are a short walk away down at the harbour. The island’s arts venue (An Tobar) is just a short walk from the end of Victoria Street and also has a cafe serving drinks and lunches. Tobermory has a great selection of restaurants too, with many offering some of the excellent seafood and local produce. Boat trips can be taken from the harbour, which include both whale watching and trips to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles.

Calgary beach is only a 30-minute drive to the west and is one of Mull’s most well-known large sandy beaches. It’s a beautiful one, with dunes and fields of Machair backing the white sandy beach and blue sea. You can also continue around the coast to explore Mull’s stunning landscapes and the Isle of Ulva.

The village of Salen is 20 minutes to the south and here the road can be taken around to Loch na Keal. This is a great place to see Mull’s wildlife and enjoy the views toward Mull highest mountain, Ben More.
