Nestled amid some of Mull’s most spectacular scenery, you’ll find Carsaig Cottage East and Carsaig Cottage West. The two attached cottages enjoy a peaceful setting on the Carsaig Estate, with dramatic views to the rugged headlands and black sandy beach casting your gaze seawards. Turn in land and the views are no less magnificent, with towering forest and rugged hills piercing the skyline and plunging waterfalls punctuating the greenery.
Arriving at Carsaig Cottage East, you'll step straight into the good-sized porch, with plenty of space to stow hiking boots, binoculars and coats so they're close to hand as you head out to explore. The porch leads into the beautifully presented kitchen, which is well-equipped for a home-from-home experience and to enable you to cook with ease in this spectacular and remote setting. The dining table with bench and chair seating sits in the heart of the room, so the chef is never far from the action.
The kitchen leads on to a hallway, with the staircase, a useful ground floor WC and the living room accessed from it too. The living room enjoys wonderful sea views, with two cosy sitting areas from which to choose and a warming wood-burning fire, so you can coorie in and watch the storm clouds roll in on wilder days.
Upstairs, the cottage offers three bedrooms and flexible arrangements to suit families and friends. The master bedroom with sea views has a king-sized bed. There's a cosy twin bedroom, which can also be configured as a superking-sized double on request, and the third bedroom a compact single day bed, with optional pull-out single bed too. This also doubles as a useful office space should you need to turn attention to work while away.
In the garden, there's a beautiful gravel seating area with comfortable Adirondack chairs to soak up the sunset, scan the sea for wildlife or simply enjoy a good page-turner and the sea breeze. A picnic bench beckons too for alfresco dining with a wonderful view down over the headland and beach.
The setting here is a naturalist’s paradise. Wander down to the old granite pier and watch seals hauled out on the skerries and gannets piercing the waves in a flash of white. Follow the trail through the woodland from the old pier to reach the sweeping sandy beach.
For a real adventure, navigate the rocky coastline to the west to reach the Carsaig Arches (an all-day strenuous walk with difficult terrain and tidal elements), or east to traverse the coastline to Lochbuie past Glen Byre (another all-day walk with tricky terrain around Carsaig).
