Heron View is a wonderful property that combines the original features of a traditional stone built property with the comforts of a fully modernised holiday cottage. Stay here and you can soak up sea views that are pretty hard to beat from a stylish property with glorious gardens too.

Heron View is located at Gowanbrae within the village of Bunessan, on the Ross of Mull. From its elevated position, you get fantastic sea views over the bay - a beautiful tidal sea loch where birds, seals and even otters can sometimes be seen. There is a large and well-tended garden with planted and lawned areas, as well as a delightful raised patio area with outdoor seating. The house is separated from the sea by a single track road.

You enter Heron View via the sun room, which has plenty of storage space for belongings, and seating from which you can admire the views. From the ground floor hallway, you enter the open plan seating/dining area. This is a lovely room with timber beamed ceilings, comfortable seating and a charming wood burning stove. This is the perfect spot for a dram of whisky by the fire. The dining table is set beside the window, seating four, with a view over the garden and bay, allowing diners to make the most of the beautiful loch views.

A little set of steps lead up to the kitchen, which is a modern, bright and well-equipped room with a breakfast table. Guests will also find a handy utility room with washer and dryer on this level, and there is a well-appointed shower room with a shower unit, basin and w.c too. A back door leads to the rear garden and storage area.

The main living room is on the ground floor. This is a beautifully furnished space, and again, offers captivating sea views. This room is great for the evenings - you can watch the sun sink in the sky, relax with a book, or choose from the selection of DVDs provided. There are also books and maps about the local area, which are really useful for planning your next day out. The original artwork, lamps, cushions and finishing touches add to the homely feel.

A switchback stair case leads to the upstairs landing. The double bedroom with a roomy king sized bed is on your left. This is a spacious bedroom with sea views, plenty of storage for belongings and includes a basin and mirror too. The second bathroom in the house sits between the two bedrooms upstairs and is equipped with a shower unit, basin and w.c. The twin bedroom also benefits from the sea views and has the same quality bedding and furniture.

Heron View is an excellent holiday cottage on Mull for those who enjoy the outdoors and wildlife. Bring a kayak and you can walk to the shore and explore the bay. There are good cycling routes around the local area and the fantastic beaches in this area of Mull are within easy reach.

The amenities of Bunessan are within walking distance and include: a village shop, pub, charity shop and the Ross of Mull historical centre, which is well worth a visit.

A little further afield is the acclaimed Ninth Wave restaurant, as well as a selection of other shops and eateries in Fionnphort. Fionnphort is the village on Mull from which you can take the ferry to Iona, visit the Abbey, explore the beaches and sample the local produce.

The road heading south from Bunessan leads to Uisken and Ardalanish, both of which are lovely white sandy beaches. You can park beside Uisken, which is sheltered by the many islands in the bay. Ardalanish is a long sandy beach backed by machair and grass meadows. The Ardalanish Farm and Weaving Mill can also be visited, where there is a shop selling products made from the tweed they produce.

Boat trips to Staffa leave from Fionnphort (10 minutes by car) and this excellent excursion offers the chance to see dolphins and other marine life, including the puffins (seasonal).
