Cottages don’t get any more picturesque than the beautiful Burn Cottage. With a modern country kitchen, immaculate interior, pretty walled patio garden and a burn running beside it, from which the cottage takes its name, you’d think it couldn’t get any more idyllic. But then you add in the stunning woodland views and the loch on your doorstep, and you really have found the perfect Mull retreat.

Burn Cottage is a stunning holiday cottage situated near Dervaig, a small village on the Isle of Mull’s north coast. The house is set beside woodland at Ardhu, close to the shore of Loch Cuin and there is a small burn bordering the cottage garden.

Turning off the single track road that leads around the shore of Loch Cuin, guests approach the cottage via a gravel track. The property is detached with parking to the rear and is beautifully nestled into the landscape with mature trees and fields surrounding the property.

Entering Burn Cottage, you will find a large open-plan kitchen dining space. This is a fabulous room with an abundance of natural light filtering in through the large window at one end. The contemporary finish, use of space, and neutral, cool colours, gives this property a really modern feel throughout. High quality furniture, natural materials, mirrors and artwork add the finishing touches.

The house has underfloor heating throughout, powered by a ground source heat pump and is very warm and cosy, no matter what time of year you choose to visit. The high specification kitchen is very well equipped for self-catering, with plenty of storage space too.

The dining area is situated beside a wall of glass with double doors, which look out onto the prettily planted patio area and outdoor seating. The double doors can be fully opened, connecting you to the enclosed garden area with patio, flower beds and seating. It’s a great little sun trap that guests really appreciate, whether you enjoy the spot for dinner in the evening sun, or simply for a cup of tea.

The living room has comfortable seating and a cosy wood burner that you can fire up in the evening, after a long day out exploring. There is also a large television with DVD player and wireless internet access is also provided.

All accommodation in Burn Cottage is on the ground floor. The master king-sized double bedroom is a very spacious room with a combination of built-in storage and a chest of drawers for belongings. Crisp, quality bed linen and mattresses ensure your comfort, and the excellent blackout blinds fitted to all of the windows in Burn Cottage mean you can get a good night's sleep even on the longest and lightest of Hebridean summer nights.

The bathroom is generously proportioned with a bath at one end, with shower over, basin and w.c. The twin bedroom benefits from the same high-quality bedding and has plenty of built-in storage space.

From Burn Cottage you can access the sea at Loch Cuin by simply following the track that leads to the burn, past Ardhu House, and down to the tidal grasslands where the Ardhu Burn meets the sea. This is a great place to picnic, watch wildlife and enjoy the magnificent sunsets.

The village of Dervaig is a 20-minute walk away and has a well-stocked village shop, the oldest inn on Mull (which also serves evening meals) and restaurant, Ar Bord. Heading west, you can explore the secluded sandy beaches around Croig, or venture onward to the renowned Calgary Bay, with its expanse of fine white sands.

Tobermory, Mull’s charmingly colourful main town, is a 20-minute drive away with shops and cafes to explore. Boat trips depart from Tobermory harbour and Ulva Ferry on Mull’s west coast, where you can take a tour to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles.
