Things to Do
If you are looking for mountainous scenery and coastal walks, easy access to the sea and little more to do that enjoy your surroundings, read a book, or walk the dog, then The Bothy is an excellent place for a holiday on Mull. Close by are the ruins of Moy Castle, set on the edge of some mature woodland. Further round the bay you reach the foot of Ben Buie. A beautiful mountain that dominates the scenery at Lochbuie. If you bring your bike you can cycle the stunning tracks and roads around Lochbuie, to the freshwater Loch Uisg or further on to Croggan. Otters are often spotted on the shore of Loch Spelve (close by) and the wildlife here is fantastic. Red and fallow deer, excellent bird life, otters and seals can all be spotted in the area.
Further afield the closest village is Craignure which has a Spar shop, coffee shop, pub and hotel. There is a swimming pool and spa at the hotel, open to non residents and Duart Castle is just outside the village and well worth a tour. Tobermory, the island's capital takes an hour and a half to reach, but the scenery on the way is picturesque, and you can spend the day exploring the craft shops and cafes, or take a boat trip out to one of the neighbouring islands.
