The Mendelssohn on Mull Festival holds the promise of a unique musical experience in the idyllic and magnificent landscapes that Mendelssohn himself so admired during his famous visit here in 1829. Visitors are invited to choose from a wide range of concerts and recitals, or to sit in on rehearsals at the Aros Hall in Tobermory. Mozart, Warlock and Wolf are also on the musical agenda, in locations as diverse as Iona Abbey and Torosay Castle.

Duart Castle, on the Isle of Mull in Scotland is the ancestral home of the Clan Maclean.

Standing proudly on a clifftop guarding the Sound of Mull, Duart enjoys one of the most spectacular and unique positions on the West Coast of Scotland. For over 400 years this has been the base of the Clan Maclean's sea-borne power.

Duart Castle and its grounds are open to the public from March to October 2006.  There is a carpark, and the byre just below the Castle has been converted into an unusual and attractive tearoom and gift shop.

Staffa

Staffa is a small, uninhabited island of the coast of Mull and is a geological wonder with stunning basalt columns similar to those found in the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland.  Staffa was famously visited by Mendelssohn who was inspired by the sound of breaking waves in Fingal's Cave.  Today, as well as admiring marine life on the journey there and back, you can see puffins whilst exploring the island by foot and a walk into Fingal's Cave is a must.
