Standing proudly on a clifftop guarding the Sound of Mull, Duart enjoys one of the most spectacular and unique positions on the West Coast of Scotland. For over 400 years this has been the base of the Clan Maclean's sea-borne power.
Duart Castle and its grounds are open to
the public from March to October 2006.
There is a carpark, and the byre just
below the Castle has been converted into
an unusual and attractive tearoom and
gift shop.
Iona

A trip to
Iona makes for a wonderful excursion
from Mull with regular ferries between
Fionnphort and St Ronan's Bay.
One
of Scotland's most historic and
venerated sites, lona Abbey is a
celebrated Christian centre and the
burial place of early Scottish kings.
As well as its religious importance, the
island is home to a thriving local
community consisting of residential
properties, shops, crofts, farms, hotels
and restaurants. Iona has wonderful
sandy beaches, a golf course (free), an
old marble quarry, interesting walks and
wildlife and genuine Hebridean
tranquility.
Glengorm Castle

Glengorm Castle is about 4 miles from the centre of Tobermory, along the Glengorm road. The drive is scenic and a wonderful place to view a summer sunset. The Coffee Shop and Gallery are open all summer and close at Christmas.
The Coffee Shop has a wide range of beverages and home made food - some of the best cooking on the island and often using produce from the castle's own garden. There is a fantastic outdoor seating area positioned around a courtyard. The castle has many fine walks surrounding it, or, for the less ambitious, a short walk to the gardens and nursery.
Wings Over Mull

Wings over Mull opened its doors for the first time on 15th July 2001. Run by Sue and Richard Dewar, the centre is based on the Isle of Mull at Craignure, close to Torosay and Duart Castles. It is set amidst spectacular scenery, with Dun da Ghaoithe (Mull’s second highest hill) towering above, and wonderful views out across the Sound of Mull below.
Mull is one
of the best places in the UK to see
birds of prey, and many of our visitors
come especially to watch wild raptors,
as well as seabirds, waders, otters, red
deer, whales, seals, porpoises and
dolphins. Sue and Richard hope that
Wings over Mull will provide an
opportunity for visitors to see birds of
prey at close quarters, whilst learning
about their conservation needs.
Whale Watching

Whale watching, wildlife and sightseeing boat trips on a daily basis from the Isle of Mull, ideally situated to cruise the inner hebridean waters and seek out the magnificent minke whale and other cetaceans that inhabit these waters.
There are several companies around the island that take people out to look for a variety of sea mammals and birdlife.
The Old Byre

The Old Byre is a Heritage Centre in the beautiful Glen Bellart close to the picturesque village of Dervaig on the Isle of Mull. The Old Byre is a must for anyone who would like to absorb the history of Mull in an effortless 'armchair' manner! With two amazing videos - one describing Mull's history from when man first settled here, and the other one about Mull's abundant and varied wildlife - both on land and in the waters around Mull, you can learn so much about this beautiful island. Our Gift Shop and Tearoom are relaxing places to purchase souvenirs and crafts or enjoy some light refreshment or a delicious light lunch.
Staffa

Staffa is a small, uninhabited island of the coast of Mull and is a geological wonder with stunning basalt columns similar to those found in the Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. Staffa was famously visited by Mendelssohn who was inspired by the sound of breaking waves in Fingal's Cave. Today, as well as admiring marine life on the journey there and back, you can see puffins whilst exploring the island by foot and a walk into Fingal's Cave is a must.
Torosay Castle
A visit to Torosay Castle and Gardens set on the magnificent Island of Mull is an experience not to be missed. We welcome you to a place whose beauty we hope to preserve for future generations, and we invite you to share in its delights with us.
Torosay Castle has a tea-room which is open every day serving light snacks and refreshments, and a shop selling not only souvenirs of your visit but also the work of local craftspeople. For the children and within the gardens there is an adventure playground.
