Things to Do
The house is 9 miles from the village of Dervaig and 11 miles from Salen, which both take around twenty five to thirty minutes to reach by car, through some beautiful scenery. To the south, guests can visit Loch na Keal, with its mountainous scenery and dramatic cliffs on the southern side. There are a fantastic range of birds, marine life, deer and otters to spot in this area, which is designated as a National Scenic Area by Scottish Natural Heritage, due to its outstanding natural beauty.
Heading north through mature woodland at Torloisk, there are some lovely beaches to visit, including Traigh na Cille (15 minutes) and Calgary beach (40 minutes). Dervaig is a picturesque village with church, village shop and the oldest inn on the island (The Bellachroy). And there are additional places to eat at Ballygown (short drive from the house), Am Birlinn (near Calgary) and The Boathouse (for lunches on the island of Ulva).
Boats depart from the slipway and pontoon at Ulva Ferry itself to both the Isle of Ulva and on sight seeing trips to the Treshnish Islands and Staffa.
