Craig Ben Lodge is situated on the edge of a beautiful freshwater loch (Loch Uisg). The house is a short walk from the pebble shoreline of the loch and you can make use of a boat or fish from the lochside with reports of good success. It is hard to imagine more beautiful surrounds, particularly in the summer months when the rhododendrons are in bloom, which border the single track road to the house. There is dramatic mountainous scenery, wonderful coastal walks by the sea and mature woodland in this area, so outdoor enthusiasts will be in their element. Anyone, in fact, looking for truly stunning island scenery in a peaceful, out of the way location will not be disappointed here.

Things to Do
This area of the island is wonderfully remote, and the nearest shop is a twenty minute drive away, but there is still great local produce on offer including beef, lamb and vension from Lochbuie Larder (at the Old Post Office in Lochbuie) and Inverlussa Mussels at the road end by Loch Spelve. And if you are visiting Mull for peace, tranquillity and wonderful scenery, then Craig Ben Lodge is an excellent place to enjoy a holiday.
The house overlooks freshwater Loch Uisg with abundant opportunities to watch for wildlife, from red deer to soaring eagles. Just down the road is Loch Spelve, this time a sea loch and no stranger to excellent wildlife watching opportunities either. You can follow the shoreline all the way to the road end at Croggan, where there's space to park and follow a track on foot along the water's edge. The loch narrows here with great interest at all tides and excellent wildlife to see, with the chance of otters, seals and more raptors, and if you continue along the path, you'll reach a beautiful sandy beach at Port nan Crullach too.
Those keen to explore further afield on foot will enjoy the walks at Lochbuie, whether heading towards the sweeping beach of Laggan Sands and the ruins of Moy Castle, or west along the coastline with dramatic caves and tiny coves towards Carsaig on the old Glen Byre pony track. From Craig Ben Lodge itself, skilled hillwalkers can take on an ascent of the summit of Creach Beinn, from which the house takes its name. A steep and pathless hike delivers excellent views as your reward for reaching the summit. Ben Buidhe is also an excellent hill to climb for keen hill walkers, again with outstanding panoramic views from the top.
Craignure (the nearest village) has a few options for eating out, including the Craignure Inn and Isle of Mull Hotel and Tobermory is about an hour's drive away with its range of shops, restaurants, theatre, distillery and museum. Craignure also has a golf course, swimming pool and spa (at the hotel) and Duart Castle is well worth a visit just south of the village. Fionnphort at the opposite end of the island is around an hour's drive away where you can hop aboard a boat trip to Staffa, Iona, or the Treshnish islands - where yet more natural wonders await, whether spotting puffins during their nesting season (mid-April to July), or marvelling at the basalt columns and Fingal's Cave on Staffa.
