A lovely cosy and comfortable cottage in a beautiful location. Well equipped with everything we needed. Wonderful wildlife all around and despite the daily influx of visitors to Croggan, still very peaceful. We loved our stay here.

As everyone else says - beautiful location and amazing wildlife. Peaceful perfection.

We had a wonderful, restful week. It’s a fabulous cosy cottage with a very comfortable bed, oodles of hot water and a very comfortable sofa. It was clean and well equipped. No wifi but good phone signal. Would definitely recommend.

Third successive year staying on Mull courtesy of IO Mull cottages. Each one superb, this is no exception. Excellent in Croggan overlooking Loch Spelve, surrounded by wildlife ; Otters, golden eagles White tailed eagles. Excellent facilities in cottages, despite cold but dry weather, we felt snug & warm. Yes it’s a bit out of the way, but that’s its charm. Visited by Deer every evening, & rabbits chasing across the lawn, great & comfortable cottage to return to everyday. The views over the loch & mountains are superb, would happily return & recommend

A couple of years ago, we cycled to Croggan and thought it would be a perfect place to stay, so we were delighted to discover that Tigh na Mara was available as a holiday rental. The cottage is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. It’s the perfect spot to escape to with fantastic scenery, wildlife, dark skies and peace and quiet.

Our third visit to this beautiful cottage in a stunning location surrounded by peace and quiet. Lack of WiFi not a problem for us. Cottage well equipped for all our needs
By Julie and Richard stayed in July 2023
Lovely place to stay. We loved the peace and quiet. The cottage suited all our needs. No need for the TV or Wi-Fi as there was so much going on outside. Echo the thoughts of Richard about the behaviour of the wildlife safari operators "who are passionate about Mull" and inconsiderate people trying to get too close to the wildlife
By Eddie Heath stayed in June 2023
We booked this about 18 months in advance and could never have predicted such hot weather. It was a treat to have the outdoor space, which seemed to be the only place not attracting swarms of horseflies. It was very peaceful, especially in the evening once everyone had left. The cottage was very comfy and generally well equipped but I do have to agree with a previous review about the need for some TLC. We were surrounded by lots of wildlife, which was lovely and is exactly why we come to the island. I would stay again but it would be nice to see it freshened up a bit.

Just as last year at the same time! Lovely snug cottage. Excellent location, peaceful, quiet. Wildlife in abundance. Shame about the antics and inappropriate behaviour of some photographers and especially of certain organised wildlife safari operators who should know better. Have booked again for next year.

Fabulous location, peaceful and amazing views. But…the cottage was dirty and just felt tatty, neglected and unloved.

Editor's Note: Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed Mull - we will follow up your comments with the owners, thank you.
Very comfortable cottage in an amazing location, with stunning views and scenery. Wildlife of all sorts can be seen plus evening visits from deer grazing in front of cottage. Peaceful and really relaxing, great place to de-stress. Have already booked for next year, I think that says it all.

Lovely cosy cottage, perfect for couples. Well equipped, & very comfy bed. Scenery amazing & changes every day. Weather brilliant & even a tad too hot which is very rare. Various wildlife everyday. Peaceful, a far cry from back home. Didn't want to leave. Looking forward to returning.

Stunning location and really remote which is what we wanted. So much wildlife right outside the cottage and lots of great walks closeby. Beautiful beach 20 minutes walk away. The cottage is well looked after, very warm and cosy and has a great view.
Would highly recommend this cottage for any couple looking to get away from it all, take in stunning scenery and enjoy the peace and quiet. Loved our stay there.

Our third visit as we love the location for its peace and views, great walks too with a great abundance of wildlife which we love so much, great photographic opportunities also.
Fantastic autumn colours during October which is why we always choose this time of year, we even get red deer in the garden during the night, lying in bed we even heared the stags each night roaring outside the window!!
I could simply live there no problem! Love it.

totally perfect in every way.who needs wifi, tarmac roads if you want something unspoiled by tourism and greed come to this cottage. The cottage is covetous, the scenery stunning and we saw stags every day and a pod of dolphins, beautiful walks .

Wonderful property in a breathtaking location..
Property had everything we could wish for, and was spacious and comfortable.
Wifi not a problem as good 4g signal available.
Approach road is not fantastic, but fine if you take it steady.
Spent the week in the company of wonderful wildlife, with frequent views of otters, and even a bellowing stag 6 foot away from our bedroom window.
Stunning.

Great cottage in a perfect setting. Lack of WiFi a minor problem for getting information e.g. tide times , ferries , local weather etc
By Eddie & Kay stayed in June 2019
Such a peaceful place to stay, first time staying later in yr and it was great, scenery was stunning with the colour change. Cottage was warm and cosy, spotless on arrival. Wildlife galour, weather was mixed but still out every day along Loch Spelve. Such a peaceful place for walks, photography etc. We never used the car all week, plenty of supplies and plenty to see and do. Like others have said cottage just needs some TLC now. We'll be back again next year. Shame not available over Christmas.
By Col and Sara Page stayed in November 2018
Great location for peace & quiet. However, as others have said before the cottage needs a little TLC in places. It didn't bother us, but people should be aware that the tv has a portable arial so the signal isn't great & we lost it for 2 days! It wouldn't stop us visiting again for the wildlife that is here. White tailed & Golden Eagle most days, Stags each night & Otters everyday.
By Ann & Noel Hand stayed in October 2018
Our second visit and we enjoyed as much as the last time back in 2015, definitely visit again, a little gem in a beautiful location, so peaceful and relaxing. The autumn colours are fantastic along with the wildlife and photographic opportunities, we saw otters every day, red deer visit the garden in the evening, even the stars at night are a fantastic, this is a cottage for getting away from it all, great walks great photos, take plenty of supplies and you won't want to leave!!

My third visit to Tigh na Mara situated in one of the most beautiful places I have stayed. The peace and quiet is very therapeutic and the wildlife just wonderful. I look forward to my next visit.
By Christine Green stayed in October 2018
Amazing location, wonderful wildlife right on the doorstep, otters and seals in the Loch, White Tailed and Golden Eagles overhead, deer and rabbits in the garden. Fantastic walks from the lovely little cottage and beautiful landscapes to enjoy. If you like wildlife, peace and tranquility then this is the place to stay.
By Carol and Andy Thorpe stayed in June 2018
Stunning location. We were comfortable but perhaps a little TLC needed in places. Sadly we didn’t see Otters or Stags but plenty of sheep and rabbits. Perhaps the heatwave was too much for the other wildlife. Sheep were put in the fenced off area for a couple of days, had to watch where you put your feet!!! So lucky with the weather though. Heatwave all week!!! Amazing. Over all a lovely cottage, beautiful location, amazing walks.
By Allan & Eunice Deuchar stayed in June 2018
Absolutely superb cottage and location is really beautiful. The trip along the road took us ages every time as we just had to keep stopping to look at all the wonderful wildlife and scenery! The best area on Mull by far for us! The cottage was really comfortable and offered us spectacular views and it was cosy and had everything we needed. A great place indeed and we are sure to book again! Many thanks to the owner who checked that had all we needed for our 2 week stay.... we sure did!!!

Just love this place for the peace, views and of course the wildlife. This was our sixth visit and it is still magical to us.

Absolutely amazing. Perfect location for wildlife. Cottage was really cozy and well equipped. Can’t wait to return next year.

We absolutely loved Tigh na Mara & it's stunning location. My dream was to see an otter in the wild & we saw otters every single day of our stay right on the shore in front of the cottage! We were also treated to stags in the garden early in the morning, golden eagles above the hills & seals bobbing by on Loch Spelve. This quiet corner of Mull completely enchanted us & we can't wait to return. We would definitely recommend Tigh na Mara as a comfortable, well equipped place to stay.
By Sara & Malcolm Burton stayed in September 2017
Very nice cottage, what you see on the pictures is what you get really. All though it could do with a refresh it was very comfortable and very well equipped, it had everything we needed. The location was ideal, out of the way with some stunning scenery and visiting wildlife. The drive to the cottage off the main road, is long and slow but for an experienced driver mulls road shouldn't be a problem. Overall a brilliant stay.
By Andrew & Iona stayed in July 2017
This is such a lovely cottage in such a tranquil place. Whatever the weather this place is magical. The cottage was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. We saw so much wildlife from or around the cottage. There was a regular visit from a Stag in the garden. 5th year on Mull and this was the best despite a mixed second week for weather. We'll be back again and if available Tigh Na Mara it will be. Only improvement would be to have Wifi.
By Col & Sara Page stayed in June 2017
What a lovely place to stay! The cottage was clean and really well equipped and although it was tempting to just sit and look at the view we did get out and enjoy the walks and watching the wildlife. The new fence around the property keeps out the sheep but the deer and peacocks still come to say hello! We very much hope to return next year.
By Sue & Rob Brookes stayed in April 2017
This was our fifth holiday at Tigh na Mara which really says it all!
The cottage has been slightly upgraded and the road much improved. We have been tempted to try other cottages on Mull this spot in the best part of the island keeps drawing us back. The golden and sea eagles put in a regular appearance but the otters eluded us during our stay.
By Bill and Sue Sutton stayed in April 2017
What a fantastic place to stay, remote, quiet, dark everything to get away from it all.
The cottage was clean and well equipped and just what we were looking for. We too saw and heard all the wildlife, the noise from the stags on the hill across the loch was amazing. Clear nights (most of them) with no moon gave a fantastic show of stars and the bonus of a few shooting stars as well.
We would certainly go back again.
By Neil & Nikki Thomas stayed in October 2016
The cottage was lovely and setting beautiful. We enjoyed sitting outside in the evenings looking for eagles, that we saw every day, and otters and seals. Although we were aware that the cottage is part of a working farm we returned one afternoon after a day out to find a couple of hundred sheep had been put in the garden, we saw the farmers arriving in the morning but nothing was said to us about what was going to happen. The sheep were there for two nights and were very noisy, not only with their baaing but moving around the cottage through the night and knocking against the doors etc, the mess on the floor was pretty appalling you couldn't put a foot down without stepping in it. We don't like to be negative as over all we had a lovely week at the cottage but the sheep did put us off a bit.

Our fourth stay at this cosy hideaway in a unique location. Stags in the garden, eagles overhead and otters on the loch shore, What more could we ask for?
The final four miles of road caused some expensive damage to our car, but pot hole filling is now being carried out on the worst sections.
Any small problems we had were dealt with quickly and efficiently. We look forward to another visit next year.
By Bill and Sue Sutton stayed in April 2016
Tigh na Mara is a lovely cosy cottage in a stunning location. We found the cottage perfect for two people with a well equipped kitchen. It was lovely to sit and have breakfast and dinner whilst watching wildlife right outside. We will definetely book again.to stay here.

A lovely comfortable cottage with stunning views you could look at all day.
Certainly remote but worth the 20 minute drive from the main road. Very well equipped and clean and a very comfortable bed. Would recommend this cottage to anybody seeking peace and quiet.
By Tony & Jen stayed in September 2015
Tigh Na Mara is a lovely little cottage for 2 in a beautiful location with endless wonderful walking and wildlife on the doorstep. For a none 4x4 the final 4 miles were rather rough going! Our standards are very high and with that in mind we would say the cottage now needs freshening up throughout and some updating including bedroom furniture , a new fridge , a better shower and drainage and Wi Fi. These are not deal breakers we loved our fortnight on Mull and will be back!
By David Nowell stayed in June 2015
Editor's Note: Drainage problem with shower is now sorted (could have been done during guests' stay if they had asked). Cottage was painted throughout in February this year.
Back for our 4th stay, wonderful place but getting too popular, when we first stayed here you didn't see anyone else for days, but now there are cars parked all over the place. Another set of drawers in bedroom would solve storage problems, and fridge-freezer rusty on outside. A whirly clothes drier would be handy outside for sunny days. However, we will definitely be back for a fifth stay as soon as we can arrange it.
By Val and Keith Flintham stayed in June 2015
The cottage was even better than we had hoped for, very clean and modern and the best equipped kitchen I've ever seen! Views were stunningly beautiful, and we loved wildlife watching from the cottage and spotted otters and seals from the cottage window, and stags and lots of bunnies on the cottage lawns! Wonderful walks straight out the cottage door, and lots of lovely places within a short driving distance! We look forward to returning again in the future!
By Laura & Richard stayed in April 2015
The cottage is exactly as it looks in the photographs. Very clean, comfortable cottage, with everything you need (even a very well equipped kitchen)
If your looking for peace, quiet and tranquility, this is the place to come.
The wildlife was spectacular, with beautiful scenery and walks right outside the front door.
An easy island to explore, knowing that your returning to your own secluded cottage at the end of the day.
Already planning our return visit.
By Brian & Mary stayed in March 2015
The cottage was clean, warm and cosy and the situation was stunning overlooking the loch. The only fault was the water in the shower room which was slow to drain away, but I would definitely recommend this property. I hope to go back someday.
