We loved Half Moon House. We arrived early after a difficult journey due to Storm Kathleen to be met by the lovely housekeeper Angela. The house was spotless and very spacious. We particularly liked the large double height living room and the posh kitchen appliances! We think this is the most well equipped cottage we have ever stayed in. Dervaig was ideal for Tobermory in one direction and Calgary Bay/Ulva in the other. The kids loved being able to walk to buy eggs from the many honesty boxes and the very well stocked village shop, as well as bird watching from the living room.

We had a lovely to stay at Half Moon House! It was well equipped, spotlessly clean, so spacious yet cosy which was a bonus due to a couple of stormy days. Loved the upside down living and the views from the balcony. That short walk to the local pub was perfect and all in all a fabulous time was spent at this property, definitely worth 5 stars.

Just back from a wonderful stay at Half Moon House. Dervaig is a beautiful village and the people are so friendly. Our visit was just before Spring season so not a lot was open however was lovely and peaceful. Walking trails were amazing and scenery breathtaking. Local hotel was great for a drink and fish & chips delicious. The house was perfect for us...kitchen was amazing with absolutely everything you could need...plus a few wee added extras. Huge selection of books plus lots of games for a cosy night in. House was perfectly clean with a lovely smell as you walked in the door. Superb!

The balcony is rotten, holed, dirty and the railings in a dangerous condition, 2 windows smashed in the living room, wood stove handle broken, front door handle fell off, severe damp above the bedroom window, mould in the bathroom and rusty radiators, passive aggressive messages scattered throughout from the owner, exterior of the house is extremely tatty, shower seal leaked and was green, radiators filled with hair and dust, toilet in one bathroom was dirty, all toilets were backing up, Photos sent to Isle of Mull cottages who were fantastic. Owner compensated, not adequately.

Editor's Note: We discussed these points with the owner and have subsequently visited the property. Whilst there are a couple of minor general maintenance points being addressed, we don't agree with the list here. The housekeeping has been rated as excellent by previous guests and we disagree with the comments made regarding the cleanliness - the bathrooms were clean, there was just a drainage problem that needed addressing. We are sorry you felt the compensation was not adequate.

Very well appointed, spacious house. Lovely views over reedbeds and to the loch. Local beaches excellent. Village has a shop and a pub - what more could you want.

Stayed here in Oct 23 and was a bit disappointed. Stunning kitchen and lovely bedrooms but the rest of the house could be doing with a bit of tlc.
Apart from that central location for Tobermory and Calgary Bay and the views from the property were beautiful. Dervaig itself is a lovely wee village too.

We loved our break on the Isle of Mull staying at Half Moon House, Dervaig. Beautiful views from the house whether across the reed beds, out to the sea loch or the village. The house is very spacious yet cosy & comfortable. Everything has been thought of and lots of extras such as cleaning products, hand soaps etc provided. Great well equipped kitchen. Dervaig is a lovely village with lovely walks nearby. We ate out at Am Birlinn nearby twice... lovely place for locally sourced & delicious food. The Bellachroy Arms in the village is a welcome stopping off point as well.

We just loved the house. The views were beautiful, we could watch , deer, herons and guess passing by every day. The view of the water added to the relaxing atmosphere , the owner has even provided bird food for the feeding station on the balcony. I’d recommend Half Moon House for anyone who enjoys nature and the peace of the countryside. The house was equipped and furnished to a high standard and was within walking distance to the local hotel and an excellent shop for provisions.

We had a great stay in Mull and Half Moon House was the perfect home for the week. Plenty of room, fabulous views from every window and extremely well equipped. Really enjoyed watching the sun set from the balcony. Dervaig has great restaurants very close by and a well stocked shop if you want to cook. Beautiful beaches a short drive away and lots of walks. The perfect place to take a relaxed break.

Half Moon House is in a great location and beautifully furnished. It had everything we needed, but the weather was so good that we were out a majority of the time. A problem on the first day with lack of hot water was quickly sorted. It is close enough to the village for supplies, but out of the way enough to be private with wonderful views. Ar Bord and Am Birlinn are fantastic places to eat locally and grab some treats from The Piece Box.

We had a great stay in Mull and Half Moon House was a lovely home for the week. A clever design making the most of the fabulous views and equipped with everything you need. Dervaig has great restaurants very close by and a good base to explore the island. I hope to be back!
