After a spectacular drive up the west coast past Eas Fors waterfall, the shores of Loch Tuath and rugged uplands, you’ll feel like the holiday has already begun as you arrive at Caber Feidh.
Perched high on the hillside above a cluster of cottages, this homestay feels rooted in its island landscape and, thanks to the glazed gable end, ensures you are never far from a staggering view!
On bright days, the spacious decking offers a prime elevated view to scan the seas for marine life, watch out for passing yachts or soak up the superb westerly sunsets over outlying isles with a glass or two. Should the weather turn wild, these dramatic views follow you into both the kitchen and the living room, a welcoming space with its double-height ceiling, glazed gable wall and comfortable seating making the most of the seascape panorama come rain or shine.
Also on this level, the spacious dining kitchen, which connects to both the hallway and living room for a sociable flow, makes it easy to self-cater with ease, perhaps inspired by the catch of the day, or venison off the local hills. Equipped like a true home-from-home, with a coffee machine for your morning caffeine fix too. Patio doors frame the sea from this room too, so you can cook and dine without ever losing sight of the water, or easily spill out onto the elevated sea view decking should you prefer to enjoy drinks and nibbles alfresco.
The ground floor is also home to a porch and roomy entrance hall with ample space for camera gear and binoculars, as well as the spacious sea view twin bedroom with built-in wardrobes and a well-appointed family bathroom, with free-standing bath tub, large shower, WC and basin.
Upstairs are two further peaceful bedrooms at Caber Feidh, each with stunning sea views, plush king-sized beds and en-suite shower rooms. The master offers the added luxury of a large walk-in wardrobe, while the second double still promises ample space to unpack with built-in wardrobes too. A flawless night's sleep comes guaranteed at Caber Feidh, enabling you to truly switch off, recharge your batteries and reconnect with nature in this exceptional island setting with gloriously dark skies and even a chance of the Northern Lights in the winter too.
With the ever changing tides and skies, Caber Feidh is a cottage that truly immerses you in the island's unique landscapes, with interiors so comfortable you might feel hard-pressed to leave! But peel yourselves away and some of Mull's gems await your discovery locally, from the plunging falls as Eas Fors meets the sea at Loch Tuath to the south, to the hidden black sands of Traigh na Cille beach to the north.
With rocky coastline, pockets of ancient Atlantic rainforest and sweeping open hill country, all of Mull's big five can be spotted in the local area with patience and fieldcraft, and the nearby boat trips from Ulva Ferry to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles offer a great chance to see dolphins and minke whales on your voyage, as well as puffins in season.
Caber Feidh offers you a prime position from which to soak up Mull's wild side on land, sea and sky, whether you venture out exploring or simply enjoy the views from your luxurious cottage base.
