Things to Do
This is a beautiful part of the island, perfect for those wanting to experience quiet, rural surrounds, rich in wildlife with access to some fantastic coastline, beaches and woodland. There are still lots of things to explore in the area if you wish. A short drive will get you to Ulva Ferry where a five minute boat trip takes you to the Isle of Ulva where there are a network of paths and a great cafe at The Boathouse. There are also regular boat trips departing from Ulva Ferry out to Staffa and the Treshnish islands (April to October).
Heading in the opposite direction, Calgary beach is just five miles away and there is a tearoom, gallery and a marked woodland walk. A little further on is the village of Dervaig with a local pub serving food, the Old Byre Heritage Centre, excellent village shop and picturesque church. There are also numerous forestry tracks, and great opportunities for seeing wildlife both on land and in the sea.
