High standard of property. Lovely light airy main bedroom with nice Veranda. Very well situated for exploring the west of the island. Superb beaches within walking distance. Would highly recommend.

Lovely accommodation. Perfect for our needs. Stunning views in all directions. A very relaxing stay. Most eateries are closed in mid March so take some supplies (Oban Tesco is very handy for the ferry and has local produce you can keep fresh in the large freezer). Lots of walking available from the doorstep and you can always return on the upper deck of the 496 bus!

The Steading was an exceptionally nice house, very clean with all the cooking facilities needed. The beds were very comfortable and the view from the balcony is amazing . We had a great stay and would recommend this property. Our stay was at the beginning of March and there was not a lot of eateries open so be prepared and take some meals with you. There is a well stocked Spar at Bunessan on the road to the Iona ferry. Excellent all round stay on Mull!

Just as it looks in the photos. Its lovely accommodation. It is in walking distance of amazing peaceful beaches and in close driving reach of others. The ferry to Iona is with twenty minutes drive. If you are looking for peace and beauty this cottage provides both.

Very high standard of accommodation. We loved taking morning coffee and afternoon wine on the balcony outside the bedroom. The Steading is the perfect place to take in the views and enjoy the loch. The whole place is extremely comfortable and an ideal place to relax. We walked every day in each direction always finding another beautiful place to explore. The local shop in Bunnessan is well stocked and we sampled the fish and chips there too. This is a wonderful and special place and we hope to return.

Excellent house and gardens. We had 2 weeks of sunshine and no rain so the garden was great for eating out. We also had a white tailed eagle over the back garden being mobbed by gulls.
The beaches at Kilvickeon and Uisken are fantastic.
The lambs were a constant source of amusement.

We chose to stay in the south of the island to visit Iona and the wonderful beaches. It takes about 15 minutes to travel to the ferry and the beaches were incredible. You can walk from the cottage to the beach at Kilvickeon. Within minutes of leaving the cottage, a WTE flew over. The cottage is absolutely stunning. There is nothing to fault about it. I will always have memories of waking in the morning to look out onto the loch, hearing all the birds in the tree outside and the daily call of the cuckoo. I am missing my daily lamb therapy from the ones who wander around the garden. Recommended

Home from home, The Steading is the holiday accommodation I hope to find. Lots of thought has gone into fixtures and furniture and we did not want for anything. It was comfortable and well equipped. We too wanted to visit Iona several times and chose the location as it was convenient for exploring and getting to the Iona ferry. We saw corncrakes as hoped for on Iona but other wildlife was elusive during our week. Weather was good and Mull and Iona Islands were wonderful. Left it too late to book a meal at Ninth Wave so will have to consider returning.

Experienced the most wonderful week at The Steading. A superb home to spend a week in, easily up there as one of the most suitable places to stay for us. Quiet, very private, very comfortable & well equipped with excellent beds, showers, and wonderful views. A superb base for exploring that end of the island, the exceptional weather always a bonus. Thoroughly recommend staying here, just book those ferry crossings extremely early & expect & be prepared to alter your journeys if they are playing up!

The Steadings is a comfortable & well appointed property, which is light and airy even on a dreich winter’s day. A great base for exploring the beautiful beaches of Ross of Mull & spotting all kinds of wildlife - even better with a knowledgeable local guide. If staying in the low season, as recommended, do take plenty of food supplies as there are few eateries open & there’s plenty of fridge/freezer storage in the property. The owner lives nearby & was very welcoming & helpful.

Great property in a great location !
We had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay. Nice walks to Kilvickeon beach, Scoor and Shiaba. Perfect location for visiting Iona. People were very welcoming, especially in the Spar in Bunessan.
Wildlife was amazing Eagles, Buzzards and Red Deer on the walks to Kilvickeon beach. Otters near Croggan and a huge Stag regularly spotted in Pennyghael, not to mention the Highland Cattle wandering down the road in Fionnphort !
We stayed for 9 nights and wished it could have been longer !

Wow, just wow. The Steadings looks good in the photos but in real life it is stunning. And so large! It is a superb house with all you could wish for, really comfy beds and the view over the loch is amazing. Donald, the owner, was very approachable and helpful.
The location makes it easy to explore by foot, it is well worth going to the beach at Kilvivkeon, the ruined village of Shiaba and the cave to see the carvings. It is also very easy to visit Iona and Staffa and Tobermory for a longer day out.

Beautiful building too, tasteful decor and relaxing. Close to lots of brilliant locations not least the Kilvickeon and Uisken beaches. My wife and I were on Mull to scatter my parents ashes. My Mother was born and brought up just a few miles from the Steading and had met and married my Father on the island. Although a somewhat sad occasion we really enjoyed our stay. The Steading was just as described and everything and more than we expected. A special thanks to the owner Donald Cameron for always being available for help or advice and in our case long chats about people, places and family.

A beautiful property in a lovely location.
We had a great few days walking and watching wildlife. A day on Iona, lots of otter and eagle spotting, long walks to wild empty beaches. Nice to come back to the warm house with wood burner in the evenings. Extremely well equipped and furnished. Perfect winter retreat. Just make sure well stocked up with food and supplies as nothing much open out of season, just the little Spar in Bunnesan.

A lovely, warm, spacious, comfortable house in a very quiet location. Perfect for exploring Kilvickeon and Knockvologan beaches. Friendly owners only a few minutes walk away. Only downsides were that you can't access the Loch easily for fishing and the DVD player was missing a lead. We had one day of torrential rain and the kids fancied a dvd. A fantastic stay none the less. Highly recommend this house.

The Steading is the best holiday home we have stayed in. We would recommend walking from the house to Kilvickeon Beach (Garbh Eileen on the OS map) via the ruined church and to Port Bheathain via Saorphin. The view from the balcony across the lake is stunning; we saw Red Deer on the hillside and Golden Eagles in flight. The White-tailed Eagles are best seen (if you are lucky enough) from either of the walks.
The ferry to Iona is only a short drive away, so you can easily catch an early one to make the most of your day on that atmospheric island.
All in all a great place to stay.

A lovely location and all was as described in the house information.
Most of the roads are single track so journeys will take longer as you have to stop whenever cars approach (or they do). so take your time and enjoy the views!
The owner lives nearby so is always on hand.
The spar/PO in the village is tiny but has good range if limited of most items. They will order newspapers for you.
Highlights: Staffa, Iona, walks from the house, relaxing on the balcony, wildlife especially the eagles, woodburning stove, stargazing as little light pollution, the small visitor centre in Bunessan.

The Steading is a very beautiful cottage with lots of space , large gardens to the back and front with a large first floor balcony, ideal for relaxing and taking in the views . We were lucky to enjoy good weather for the first few days with spectacular sunrises and sunsets . The interior was very well furnished and everything was cleaned to a high standard . Occasional visits by sheep and lambs and a very varied birdlife added to our enjoyment . No mobile phone signal and very slow wi-fi ensured we stayed in the holiday mode!
