Lochview is a modern and well-equipped holiday cottage situated near Bunessan in the Isle of Mull’s south west. The cottage has stunning sea views over Loch na Lathaich and the little islands within its sheltered waters. It’s not only the guests here who benefit from these stunning sea loch views, though – the wildlife does too. White-tailed sea eagles, otters and a whole host of birdlife can often be spotted, making this cottage perfect for birders and wildlife enthusiasts, as well as those looking to stay by the sea.
Lochview has ample parking for two cars and an enclosed garden to the front, with an area of raised decking and outdoor seating. This is a comfortable spot to sit a while and soak up the views, you never know what you might see! It adjoins another holiday cottage, Lochside, on the outskirts of the peaceful village of Bunessan. Bunessan has a couple of places to eat and a useful village shop, making it an island base that has charm and convenience in equal measure.
Entering the holiday cottage, there is a porch area with plenty of room for storing belongings. A wide hallway then leads through to all other rooms.
The modern kitchen and dining area is very well-equipped for self-catering, with a dining table that can seat six people. This room is semi-open plan with the main living area. This is a bright room thanks to the large double doors and windows, but the real gem lies beyond the window with the panoramic bay views. The neutral decor, soft furnishings and leather sofas make this a comfortable place to just relax and enjoy the sea from. The doors open out to the front decking and garden, allowing you to make the most of this location and the beautiful sunsets.
Both the double and twin bedroom are also on the ground floor of this single storey property. The double bedroom is a very spacious room with plenty of storage space and a dressing table, as well as those great sea views. The twin bedroom is to the rear of the cottage and benefits from the same quality bedding and furnishings. The contemporary bathroom is well-appointed, with a large walk-in shower, bath, basin and w.c.
Guests staying in Lochview will appreciate the high standard of accommodation and care that has been taken to ensure your stay is as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. The stunning views make this the sort of cottage you can just unwind in and soak up the beautiful surrounds that this area of Mull has to offer.
From Lochview there are some great days out to enjoy. Iona and its historical Abbey and beaches can be visited with ease, with boats departing from Fionnphort, which is just a short drive from the cottage. You can take a boat trip to Staffa or the Treshnish Isles from here too. Bunessan is the closest village (within walking distance) and has a couple of shops, a pub and village hall, and the Ross of Mull Historical Centre (open during the summer months).
The Ross of Mull is well known for its outstanding white sandy beaches and beautiful coastline. The seas here are crystal clear and there are excellent walks that take in some of the finest vistas of this landscape. Wildlife abounds, with hen harriers and eagles regularly seen in the area.
