Dervaig Explore the area, things to do and more

For far-reaching countryside views and a convenient location from which to explore the entire island, check into Craigbhea. This spacious detached holiday cottage is situated on the edge of the village of Dervaig on the Isle of Mull’s north coast, with plenty of amenities within easy reach.

A private drive leads up to Craigbhea, which is set above the single track road that leads to the village. There is ample parking for up to five cars to the rear of the property, an area enclosed within the garden.

Entering Craigbhea there is a porch with storage space that leads into a large U-shaped hallway. From here, you can access all other rooms on this single level property.

Located to the front of the house to take advantage of the views over the River Bellart reed beds, the living room is flooded with natural light and a great spot for wildlife watching. On warm days, open up the double doors onto the wrap-around timber deck and enjoy a meal alfresco.

Guests will also be delighted to discover the sun room, which flows on from the living room. This is a great space to unwind with a good book, play a few family board games or enjoy a night cap while watching the stars.

The kitchen diner is spacious and well equipped for all your self-catering needs. With a dining table in the centre, it’s a great place to gather, prepare and share a meal, whether breakfast, lunch or dinner. Next door, guests will find the utility room a useful addition, with extra storage space, a wash basin and laundry facilities, as well as access to the garden and lawn at the side of the house.

Moving through the property, guests will find the bedrooms to the side and rear of the cottage. There are two spacious twin bedrooms, both with large built-in wardrobes for storage, comfortable bedding and lovely views down Glen Bellart.

At the end of the hall is a spacious master double en-suite, another lovely room with glen views, abundant storage and an adjoining bathroom with w.c. shower and basin. A second double bedroom is located next to the family bathroom, with a shower unit, bath, w.c. and basin, in a handy central location along the hallway. The third bathroom adjoins the utility room, which has a shower, basin and w.c., so there’ll be no rush to get ready in the morning.

Dervaig is a small village that has a well-stocked shop, ideal for picking up the necessities when you arrive on the island. Guests will also enjoy the opportunity to drink and dine at the Bellachroy, Mull’s oldest inn, and visit the artisanal bakery. Dervaig is also home to a sports pitch that can be booked via the village hall – great fun for sporty families or active groups.

Travelling a short distance out of Dervaig, the restaurant Am Birlinn is also well worth a visit, as is Ballygown restaurant further round the coast. Calgary Beach is less than 15 minutes away by car, with a tearoom to visit close by. Mull’s colourful town of Tobermory is a 25-minute drive to the east.

Property Overview

Sitting room and sun room: There is a a main sitting room with large leather sofa and two armchairs at Craigbhea, as well as a separate sun room with sofa and two additional armchairs. There is a television in the main living room with satellite channels and some books and board games too. WiFi throughout.

Kitchen and Utility: The fitted kitchen has a cooker with electric hob and oven, there is a fridge; freezer (under counter with three drawers); dishwasher; kettle; toaster; cafetiere; hand blender; some store cupboard basics (salt/pepper) and a range of cookware and utensils for self-catering. The washing machine and dryer are housed in a separate utility room.

Bedrooms: Two double bedrooms (both with standard sized doubles) and two twin bedrooms (each with two single beds).

Bathrooms: One of the double bedrooms has an en-suite shower room (with shower unit, basin and w.c.); there is a family bathroom with bath, shower unit, basin and w.c and a further shower room with a shower unit, basin and w.c.

Garden: Fenced garden, lawn at the back and decking at the front which can be accessed by the sitting room or at the side of the house. Picnic bench.

Heating: Underfloor, oil fired heating.

Bed Linen and Towels: Bed linen and towels are provided for guests.
