Bun Creige, which means below the crag, is a Scottish larch clad contemporary holiday cottage nestled beside the sea on in the Isle of Mull’s south west at Ardtun. Approached from the single track road, a private gravel driveway leads down to the cottage and its enclosed garden, which is nicely landscaped to feature an elevated rocky area, well-tended lawns and gravelled area from which to cast your gaze out to sea and enjoy the outstanding views, which are particularly special at sunset.

This is a lovely secluded location with the nearest cottage being far enough removed so as not to impinge on your privacy, while still having the comfort of neighbours. The coast here is a haven for wildlife and, thanks to the ever changing tides, there's something to catch your eye in every season. As you watch the water, don't be surprised to see a seal head pop up - they're inquisitive creatures and will take as good a look at you as you do them!

Entering the cottage, you're instantly welcomed into the open-plan living, dining and kitchen area. White walls combine with high ceilings, brightly coloured furnishings and an awe-inspiring sea view framed perfectly by the window to create a space that feels homely and special.

An intimately proportioned space, the cottage has been cleverly designed to form the perfect coastal bolthole for two within a compact space. The bespoke woodwork and furnishings lend a feeling of both authenticity and luxury, settling the cottage softly into its stunning natural surroundings.

The kitchen is very well equipped with views to the garden, and the wee table and chairs combine with quality tableware for effortless mealtimes too. The sofa is very comfortable and perfectly located to enjoy the best of this stunning setting and sea views, with the binoculars provided giving you great opportunity to watch out for the local wildlife.

With its panoramic window, Bun Creige has all the capabilities of a wildlife hide, with the luxury of a first-class cottage to boot. As the evening arrives, guests can settle in to stargaze on a clear night, with the high standard of insulation and air-to-air heating to keep you cosy whatever the weather.

A small hall area (which can be closed off with a curtain) leads through to the double bedroom. This is a beautiful room with very comfortable bedding provided and lovely sea views. There is a dressing table with a lamp and plentiful storage for your belongings, so you can really make yourselves at home. Artworks further enhance the feel of the room and thick blinds promise a good night's sleep during the light Hebridean summer nights, if you can tear your eyes away from those views.

The bathroom is very spacious with a large shower unit, basin and W.C, along with a heated towel rail and complimentary toiletries too.

Bun Creige is the perfect choice for a couple or solo traveller seeking high quality self catering accommodation in a beautiful and secluded part of the Isle of Mull with excellent sea views. The location at Ardtun feels wild and natural, promising you every opportunity to relax and reconnect with nature, and yet the village of Bunessan with its characterful pub, which serves meals, is still within walking distance. The cottage really does offer the best of both worlds, with views that will draw you back time and time again.

If you'd like to feel the sand between your toes or take in the spectacular colours of the machair in bloom, then some of Mull's finest shell-sand beaches are within easy reach. Enjoy a wild swim in the clear waters of Uisken, wander the silver sands at Ardalanish or visit Knockvologan and cross the tidal sandbar to the Isle of Erraid too.

The ferry to Iona is only 15 minutes away at Fionnphort, where you can also embark on boat trips to Staffa and the Treshnish Isles. Bun Creige is an enchanting bolthole that punches far beyond its weight when it comes to style and sea views. Staying here promises to be an experience worth writing home about.
