A stone’s throw from the stunning nine-hole golf course and with great views over the sea to Calve island, Bad Daraich is a spacious, pet-friendly, Victorian home for up to 10, with a location to take your breath away. Tucked at the end of a single-track lane with superb sea views, the house dates back to 1860 and is excellently located for accessing the attractions of Tobermory, with a footpath leading down to the Main Street not far down the lane. Bad Daraich means clump of oak trees, and you'll find plenty of historic oaks in the area surrounding the house.

Approaching the property up the sweeping private driveway, you’ll find plenty of parking for several vehicles conveniently located to the side of the house, so as not to impact the excellent views. A manicured lawn wraps around the property, with picnic benches provided for alfresco dining. Wide stone steps lead up to the grand threshold and front door.

Entering the house, a roomy entrance hall complete with a feature stained glass window and period tiled floors creates an instant impression. On this level you’ll be able to explore the main living spaces, each of which features attractive artworks and paintings.

The living room room is comfortably furnished with plush sofas gathered around the multi-fuel stove and 50-inch Sky TV to make the most of the warmth and ambiance. Decorative cornicing accentuates the lofty ceilings, but it’s the views over the Sound of Mull that will really catch your eye. An elegantly furnished window seat invites you to take it all in, with a drop-leaf table ready to be filled with board games or mugs of morning coffee.

Both the kitchen and dining room are also located on the ground floor. The kitchen is a well laid out contemporary space, with all the amenities you could need to prepare, serve and savour a meal provided. With a sofa in this room, you can cook dinner and catch up on a day’s adventures at the same time. The house also benefits from a well-equipped laundry, with a washing machine, dryer and plenty of space to dry boots after a walk to the lighthouse or trip to the beach.

Across the grand hallway is the dining room at Bad Daraich. Antique furniture and tartan wallpaper add a real sense of character, with table and chairs to seat 10. The two armchairs positioned to make the most of the sea views from the large window are the perfect spot for early birds to watch the sun rise with a morning coffee or indeed, for night owls to enjoy a dram or two later on.

Climbing the staircase past the stained glass window, guests will find the five spacious bedrooms – three en-suite, king-sized doubles and two twin bedrooms, one of which is en-suite and the other served by the ground floor family bathroom, which has a w.c., sink and bath with a shower over. The landing also includes a feature curved window looking straight out to sea, where a telescope is positioned to enable you to spot the passing wildlife. Look out for porpoise in the water and seals around Calve island.

Each bedroom is elegantly presented with attractive wallpapers and soft furnishings. With plentiful storage to stow away belongings, you can make yourselves truly at home. Enjoy the opportunity to soak up the unobstructed sea views from the master double and twin bedroom to the front of the house, both of which have seating areas from which to watch the boats pass through the bay.

Located in a leafy position on the coast in Tobermory, it would be easy to while away your entire stay without even leaving Bad Daraich. But Tobermory’s lively range of restaurants, which regularly feature excellent local seafood, artisan gift shops and attractions are certain to tempt you out. Only a 10-minute walk down the hill (allow a bit longer for the steeper climb back!), you'll find the harbourfront, with its aquarium, museum and authentic whisky distillery.

Boat trips sail daily in season to seek out minke whales, basking sharks and the puffins while they’re nesting on Mull’s outlying isles too, with land-based wildlife tours also departing from Tobermory – a great way to spot eagles, otters and deer. Calgary Beach lies a scenic 30-minute drive to the west, with the hidden coves at Croig and Langamull in North Mull also within easy reach.

Bad Daraich is the perfect island property for a family holiday or group getaway thanks to its high quality, spacious accommodation with period details aplenty and outstanding sea views.

Bedrooms: Three king-sized bedrooms and two twin bedrooms, each with two single beds. 32-inch HD TVs in two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom.

Bathrooms: Ground floor bathroom with w.c, sink and bath with shower over. Four bedrooms (three doubles and one twin) benefit from en-suite bathrooms. The master double and twin bedroom have en-suites with a w.c., basin and shower. The additional two double bedroom en-suites include a w.c. and basin, with one including a bath and the other a bath with shower over.

Garden: Mainly laid to lawn with uninterrupted sea views over the Sound of Mull and Calve island. Two picnic benches. Not fully enclosed.

Heating: A multi-fuel stove with back boiler heats the radiators throughout the ground floor of the house, with an additional electric radiator in the living room. Modern electric heaters throughout upstairs, with electric heated towel rails in all four en-suite bathrooms.

Multi-Fuel Stove: There is a multi-fuel stove in the living room with wood and briquettes provided in the store to the side of the house.
