Just a 15-minute drive south of Craignure, in the south-eastern corner of the island, this traditional three bedroomed holiday cottage nestles into the hillside, boasting stunning views overlooking Lochdon estuary and the surrounding mountains.
This is a really picturesque part of the island, with many excellent walks accessible right from the doorstep. The coastline at Grasspoint just a couple of miles further on is excellent for wildlife, with regular White-Tailed Sea Eagle sightings in the area, and has a sandy bay and rocky coastline to explore. Guests have even been known to set up telescopes in the garden and from the elevated viewpoint to watch the passing birds and deer roaming on the flats below!
As you turn off towards Grasspoint after passing through the hamlet of Lochdon, the single-track road takes you over a beautiful old bridge and up the hill to where the property is situated, next to Stable Cottage. Guests can park directly outside the cottage in the courtyard, before stepping into the characterful, charming and homely interior of the cottage, which immediately invites you to relax.
As you enter the cottage from the gravelled courtyard, the ground floor comprises of a kitchen, living room with cosy open fire, dining room and bathroom. A porch leads to the front garden with a bench for taking in the lovely views - a peaceful place to start your day with a freshly brewed cup of coffee or tea. A wooden staircase leads to the top landing and the three bedrooms, which include a king-size double with a feature fireplace, twin and single room.
The cottage is a 10-minute drive from Craignure, where there are several places to enjoy an evening meal, including the local pub, as well as a cafe for lunch, or coffee and cake during the day. Guests can get basic provisions and petrol at Craignure village and can take a tour of Duart Castle nearby. It's a 45-minute drive to Tobemory and a similar distance to Fionnphort, where boats leave to Iona and Staffa, from this part of the island.
