Little wonder, then, that many locations have been the subject of visitors&#8217; photos time and again.\u00a0 We took to the skies to discover new perspectives of old favourite locations throughout the Isle of Mull and we hope you enjoy them too.<\/p>\n<p>We are going to focus on the beauty of the locations and the circumstances and timing of the images, perhaps inspiring a visit and stay in one of our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">hand picked range of holiday cottages on Mull<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Ben More<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-560\" src=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/ben-more-mull-sunset-winter.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"511\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/ben-more-mull-sunset-winter.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/ben-more-mull-sunset-winter-300x128.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/ben-more-mull-sunset-winter-768x327.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/ben-more-mull-sunset-winter-1024x436.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>It was one of those perfect sunny days towards the end of March.\u00a0 A touch of warmth in the sunshine brings signs of spring to Mull, yet snows still clads the mountains and the days are just beginning to get lighter and longer.\u00a0 We timed our climb of Ben More to coincide with sunset, which at this time of the year drops behind the Isle of Ulva from this location.\u00a0 We took the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/isle-of-mull-walking.html#benmore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">circular route via Beinn Fhada and over the A&#8217;Cioch ridge<\/a> before reaching the summit after dark and heading down the mountain to Dhiseig in the faint afterglow.\u00a0 The filming was a success with only light wind over the ridge.\u00a0 We&#8217;ve tackled this munro in the winter too &#8211; Baile Mor &#8211; which you see as you approach on the ferry from Mull.\u00a0 In this view you can see the row of traditional stone cottages, each with a seaward facing garden in front.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Knockvologan<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h3><strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-568\" src=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/scotlands-best-beaches-mull.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"508\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/scotlands-best-beaches-mull.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/scotlands-best-beaches-mull-300x127.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/scotlands-best-beaches-mull-768x325.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/scotlands-best-beaches-mull-1024x433.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>There&#8217;s no doubt that some of Scotland&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/mulls-best-beaches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">best beaches<\/a> are on the Isle of Mull.\u00a0 Be it the famous Calgary beach in the north, or one of the hidden coves on Mull&#8217;s south coast, with more than 20 beaches to visit there is something for every occasion.\u00a0 When working on our <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/isle-of-mull-beaches.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Isle of Mull beaches guide<\/a> we visited one of the the more spectacular stretches of sand at Knockvologan.\u00a0 It was a still, sunny day in February. At this time of year the sun sets behind the south-west tip of Iona.\u00a0 The days are shorter and the low angle light provides perfect conditions for picking out the details in the landscape.\u00a0 This view looking south toward the distant Torran Rocks give a great perspective over the broad sweep of white sands that form the beach.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Loch Uisg<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-571\" src=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/loch-uisg-mull-drone-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/loch-uisg-mull-drone-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/loch-uisg-mull-drone-1-300x128.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/loch-uisg-mull-drone-1-768x326.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/loch-uisg-mull-drone-1-1024x435.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In late May, the long days of early summer are well on the way. Mull&#8217;s landscape is mainly transformed into a rich verdant green.\u00a0 At this time rhododendron flowers are in full bloom and nowhere is the display more impressive than along the shoreline of Loch Uisg.\u00a0 The single track road to Lochbuie skirts the edge of the loch and the whole drive can resemble a giant natural garden at times!\u00a0 This image is looking west along the line of the Great Glen Fault, which runs under this part of Mull.\u00a0 The house is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/cottage\/craig-ben-lodge.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Craig Ben Lodge. <\/a>It&#8217;s a beautiful property built in the Bryce Baronial style.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Traigh na Cille<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-569\" src=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/traigh-na-cille-beach-mull-scotland.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"511\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/traigh-na-cille-beach-mull-scotland.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/traigh-na-cille-beach-mull-scotland-300x128.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/traigh-na-cille-beach-mull-scotland-768x327.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/traigh-na-cille-beach-mull-scotland-1024x436.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Here we jump to early April on north Mull&#8217;s west coast and to the beach of Traigh na Cille at Kilninian.\u00a0 This is one of north Mull&#8217;s larger beaches. It is well known for its dark sand sediments, which you can see in this image form a distinct linear banding as the tide rises and falls.\u00a0 The name of beach means &#8216;beach of the cell&#8217;, as in a monastic cell. This is most likely a connection to the times of St. Columba on Iona and the growth in Christianity in western Scotland.\u00a0 This view looks to the north past Torloisk and towards Treshnish.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Loch na Keal<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-573\" src=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/mull-cycling-drone-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"510\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/mull-cycling-drone-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/mull-cycling-drone-1-300x128.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/mull-cycling-drone-1-768x326.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/mull-cycling-drone-1-1024x435.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the first Sunday in June each year, the Isle of Mull Cycling Club organise and run the Isle of Mull Cyclesportive.\u00a0 Here you can see Mull cycling club members making their way along the shore of Loch na Keal.\u00a0 Pictured in late September, this photo is from a promotional video we made for the Sportive. It showcases the outstandingly beautiful route and explains how proceeds from entrance fees go towards good causes in the local community.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Iona Ferry, Fionnphort<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-575\" src=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/iona-ferry-mull-coast-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"508\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/iona-ferry-mull-coast-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/iona-ferry-mull-coast-1-300x127.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/iona-ferry-mull-coast-1-768x325.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/iona-ferry-mull-coast-1-1024x433.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This image looks over the Isle of Mull&#8217;s most westerly point near the village of Fionnphort on the Ross of Mull.\u00a0 Taken near sunset on a late September evening, the picture shows the Iona Ferry heading to its overnight mooring in the Bull Hole. This is the name for the channel of water that is protected by the small island of Eilean Nam Ban.\u00a0 The coastline here is made of a distinctive pink granite, which was at one time quarried and used as decorative stone in buildings throughout the world.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Eas Fors Waterfall<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-576\" src=\"http:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/eas-fors-waterfall-mull-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1200\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/eas-fors-waterfall-mull-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/eas-fors-waterfall-mull-1-300x128.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/eas-fors-waterfall-mull-1-768x328.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.isleofmullcottages.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/eas-fors-waterfall-mull-1-1024x437.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On the west coast of north Mull you will discover a landscape of distinct terraced strata.
