AUCHNACRAIG ESTATE

View from the Estate

The Auchnacraig estate, where all the cottages are located, is a fifteen minute drive south-west of the car-ferry terminal at Craignure.  The estate is ideally located for exploring all parts of the island.  Tobermory, the main village on the island is a 45 minute drive away, as is Fionnphort where boats depart for Iona and Staffa.

It is a beautiful estate with Highland cows on a 4,500-acre peninsula bordering the shores of Loch Don, Loch Spelve and The Firth of Lorne.  Much of the estate is a site of Special Scientific Interest due to its diverse geological composition and its woodlands; and it has magnificent views in every direction - particularly towards the mainland where Ben Nevis is visible 40 miles away.  It is a truly stunning corner of Mull.

LOCAL WALKS & ATTRACTIONS

woodland estate the bullestate woodland

There are lots of lovely walks on the estate. You can walk along the coast from the bridge around Lochdon estuary to look for birds, or explore the small sandy bays down at Grasspoint with its rocky coastline. There's even a walk along a rough track to the abandoned village of Gualachaolish (accessed from the main road) and there are pockets of pristine woodland to explore as well as the summit of Carn Ban. We provide information in all of the cottages about local walks along with our recommendations for further afield.
