The exceptional setting has to be seen to be believed. Grasspoint is renowned for being a superb place to observe wildlife with guests regularly seeing otters, birds of prey and occasionally dolphins and whales.  The coastline is perfect for a relaxing walk or a spot of fishing.  A truly stunning place to spend a holiday.  There is a small sandy bay a few yards from the house - while for anyone with a boat, there is a stone jetty right on the doorstep.  The house is at the end of the Grasspoint Road, three miles from the 'main road' and close to Grasspoint Cottage.

This is a spacious, old traditional house, in an exceptional setting, which is simply but comfortably furnished to suit its period.  Perfect for friends or family to get together. The house has two sitting rooms, the largest of which is situated on the first floor with fantastic views across the water.  The Old Ferry House has a fascinating history being the last stop for cattle-drovers bringing their animals from the Hebridean isles to Mull.

The house also features in the film 'When Eight Bells Toll' starring Sir Anthony Hopkins, who stayed in the house during the making of the film.  The house's great location makes it an excellent place to spend time just relaxing and enjoying the scenery.  Guests enjoy fishing from the pier and cooking their catch at the end of the day, walking along the coastline and spotting birds and wildlife.

Guest Comments from 2009

"Fantastic house, fantastic location.  We've had a great week here.  The kids enjoyed crabbing off the pier every day, fishing and exploring from the cottage."

"A great week, aided by some great weather.  Perfect location and a good old fashioned house by the sea.  Wildlife highlights include otters in the bay; sea eagle on Loch Na Keal, mink at the bridge, red deer and buzzards a plenty. Turus Mara boat trip from Ulva Ferry to Staffa and Treshnish Islands was a highlight and gave us puffins, the usual seabirds and basking sharks and porpoises... back home with memories of campfires, otter o clock (10-11pm) and a week of eating and living well"

"This was our first visit to Ferry House... but hopefully not our last.  We've had a splendid week of activities, wildlife spotting and lovely family meals.  Fabulous scenery, already planning our next trip."

"Wonderful old house in a fantastic setting.  Great week had by all with generally good weather. Magical place."
