Things to Do
If you can pull yourself away from the comfort and stunning views that the living area at Glenraille affords, you can explore the immediate surrounds on foot. The single track road outside the house leads around the coast and turns into a gravel track with a couple of signposted walks leading either down to the coastline, or up to a viewing point of Duart castle. Duart castle itself is only a five minute drive from the house and it is well worth a visit. As well as taking a tour of the castle (during the summer months) you can explore the coastline and visit the tearoom there.
In Craignure (the closest village), there is a Spar shop with post office, a local pub (Craignure Inn) and the Isle of Mull swimming pool and spa on the outskirts of the village, as well as a small golf course by the sea. To the north, Tobermory is a forty five minute drive away with its gift shops, theatre, arts centre and eateries and to the west, another forty five minute drive will bring you to Fionnphort which gives access to the Isle of Iona, Staffa and the Treshnish Isles, via the various tour operators running trips from this village.
