Things to Do

Dervaig has an old centre, with stone houses lining the 'main street', where there is a small but well stocked village shop. Kilmore church, with its distinctive tower adds some character too and the oldest inn on the island, The Bellachroy, sits at the centre. The village hall has regular producers markets running during the summer season, as well as the occasional ceilidh. Guests staying at Brackens therefore get to experience a bit of island life whilst being able to make the most of some fantastic scenery in the locality.

There are stunning coastal walks at Croig, Langamull, Calgary and Treshnish. Calgary is particularly well known due to its size and location, but there are some hidden gems for those willing to get out a map and do a bit of exploring and it's well worth the effort! The area has a great range of bird life, with such diverse habitats on offer, from mature woodland, to freshwater lochs, hills and reed beds. It's a nature lovers paradise and outdoor enthusiasts will be happy too as Mull has fantastic cycling, walking and kayaking opportunities too.

Take a wildlife tour to gain some local knowledge and seek out the eagles, otters and red deer found on the island; enjoy a day trip to Staffa or the Treshnish islands or spend a day in Tobermory browsing the gift shops, enjoying lunch out or visiting the aquarium, arts centre and museum. Ulva is a great day trip too from Dervaig with its great walking trails.
