Portfield is perfect for those looking for a retreat in a totally private and beautiful setting. The house sits overlooking the sea, and the beautiful, rugged, open countryside make this a fabulous place to unwind. Then there is the added benefit of having a sandy bay within a short walking distance which is rarely occupied by anyone else... It's hard to think of a comparable house on Mull, particularly given the excellent job the owners have made at renovating the property. And although the house is off-grid, the lack of electricity just makes Portfield a more exciting and interesting place to holiday.

Things to Do
Exploring the peninsula that Portfield occupies could keep you busy all week if you like walking off the beaten track in beautiful, unspoilt scenery. The beach too provides entertainment for all the family and is perfect for those with sea kayaks or small boats (appropriate caution should be taken).
The birds, mammals and marine life will keep the wildlife enthusiasts busy, and artists and photographers will be inspired by the natural beauty of this pretty corner of Mull. A little further afield is Lochbuie (30 minute drive from the cottage) where there is a stone circle and mausoleum to visit, and The Old Post Office provides local produce, teas, coffees and home baking (honesty box system). A walk around the coast from Lochbuie takes you to the large sweeping bay of Laggan Sands, after passing the ruins of Moy Castle and some beautiful woodland on the way.
