Glenaros House - Sleeps 10
Friday to Friday |
Maximum of 3 Dogs £10 each | Linen Provided | Electricity Included
The principal house of the Glenaros Estate, this large and richly characterful property has excellent views over estate woodland towards the sea at the Sound of Mull and the hills of Morvern.
With accommodation spread over three floors; a notable staircase; formal dining room; conservatory and two sitting rooms, this is a fantastic house offering an extra special setting for family holidays and gatherings.
The journey to the house is fantastic. Leaving the ferry in Craignure and following the road north, which hugs the coast of Mull, you turn off the beaten track just after the ruin of Aros Castle comes into view. The final approach to the house, with mature woodland on one side and open fields and a view of the sea on the other, is stunning.
Known formerly as Achadashenaig, Glenaros House has been in the current family's ownership since 1865. The Glenaros estate has an archaeological site which is well worth a visit if only for the magnificent view, this is the Iron Age fort which is some 2000 years old. An ancient track leads past the fort and continues through the forest to Killiechronan on Loch na Keal.
The house itself is furnished with family portraits and antique furniture which add to its charm. The winding staircase from the hall, homely kitchen with aga and open fires, all add to the ambience.
There’s a lawned area around the house and lots of options for walks from the door with easy access to the coast at Aros – truly beautiful on a high tide.
Glenaros is perfectly located, halfway up the east coast of the Isle of Mull, for exploring the whole island. A great base for a family holiday to remember.
