Loch Scridain Explore the area, things to do and more

The Byre is a little Isle of Mull cottage, sleeping two, with an excellent view of the sea from the living area. This cosy cottage provides a relaxing retreat for a couple seeking peace and quiet.

The Byre is situated in the south western corner of Mull, well known for its fine, white sandy bays, pink granite outcrops and excellent marine life. Driving to the cottage through the mountains of Glen More and then along the shores of Loch Scridain, it is not unusual to see eagles soaring in the glen or otters pottering along the shore of the loch.

Turning off the 'main road' and through a gate onto a track, it is a short drive up to the cottage which sits in an elevated position. The cottage has hard standing and parking directly outside it. There is a neighbouring property, but the cottage is not overlooked at all and so retains its privacy.

Entering the cottage, guests will find the open plan living area with fitted kitchen, comfortable seating and dining table. The living area has a large window in front of the dining table where guests can sit and enjoy the fabulous view of Loch Scridain. The wood burning stove adds to the ambience in the evenings and fantastic sunsets can be watched from the cottage window.

Doors lead from the main living area to the well appointed bathroom and double bedroom. The bathroom is modern with open walk in shower (wet room style), w.c. and hand basin. The double bedroom has a king sized bed and is also light and airy with windows on either side of the room and plenty of storage space.

It's a five minute drive to the nearest village of Bunessan and a further ten minute drive brings you to Fionnphort where boats leave to Iona, Staffa and the Treshnish islands.

There are many good coastal walks on the peninsula and the beaches here are arguably the best on the island with more than a handful of fabulous bays nearby - some easy to reach and others requiring a map and a bit of determination!

With no television or WiFi, this cottage is the perfect spot for those wanting some peace and quiet for a week or two. A lovely little retreat.
