Heather Lodge sits in a sunny position on the western flank of Glen Aros. This is a very private setting elevated above the glen; the view of the surrounding hillsides are unspoilt as there are no other houses in this area. Loch Frisa, sits within the valley floor and is famed for its white tailed sea eagles.
There is a private drive leading to this fantastic Mull holiday cottage with ample parking for several cars. The house has a large garden including a lawned area bordered by a small burn, there is also a picnic bench and barbecue for outdoor dining, as well as an outside storage shed for any kayaks or bikes.
Entering Heather Lodge on the ground floor there is a useful utility room with plenty of space for shoes and coats. This leads via a short hall into the large open plan kitchen and dining area which has some comfortable armchairs overlooking the valley. The room is filled with light and has excellent views and offers everything you need for a self catering holiday. This is a great family room to relax in after a day's exploration.
From this central area of the house a door leads through into the main sitting room which has an L-shaped sofa and two armchairs, log effect electric fire and patio doors leading to the garden. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with a bathroom directly across the hall from it.
Upstairs, on the gallery landing there are great views out of the large windows. Your hosts have provided a good selection of books on the local area, a couple of comfy chairs and a coffee table - ideal for board games. Leading off this large landing are the master double and twin bedrooms. Both bedrooms are well furnished with comfortable beds, each has its own ensuite bathroom with power shower. Both rooms have great views over the Glen. Bed linen and towels are provided for your stay.
In addition to the bedrooms is a third ‘office room’ which has a long workspace and built in cupboards as well as large roof window. It could also be used as a cot room for those travelling with infants. The house is equipped with wireless internet access and there is a landline in the house.
This is a well appointed, very comfortable house. The combination of underfloor heating and large panoramic windows, with plenty of seating areas in which to relax, make for a superb, self catering holiday base. After a long journey, guests will appreciate the tea, coffee and biscuits provided on the welcome tray.
The house is only a ten minute drive from the village of Salen, on the east coast, and Dervaig on the north west. Each village has a shop for basic provisions as well as a pub and a one or two options for evening meals.
