Cragside is perfect for those seeking luxurious, quality accommodation on Mull, which is well positioned for access to both Tobermory and the beautiful sweeping bay of Calgary beach. With blissful beaches, loch and woodland walks and wildlife all just a stone’s throw away, Cragside offers an idyllic place to stay.
The house sits elevated on the hillside amongst a cluster of other houses, on the edge of the village of Dervaig. The house overlooks Glen Bellart and is within walking distance of the head of Loch a'Chumhainn and the village centre, with its shop and pub, where lunches and evening meals are served.
Entering through the gates to Cragside, there is a large gravelled area and parking space for several cars. There are shrubs and flowers to admire as you climb a few steps up to the house entrance, where there is an outdoor patio area and seating, sun loungers and an amazing BBQ hut. This is a great space for evening gatherings and feasts, no matter what the weather (additional fee applies). There is also a paved area at the rear of the house where the ground rises steeply, providing shelter and privacy.
The porch at the front of the house provides a space for coats and shoes and leads to the downstairs hallway. When entering this warm and contemporary home, it is easy to see that much care and attention has been taken to make Cragside a very comfortable and well-equipped holiday home with quality furniture, lovely furnishings, flooring and finishing touches.
On the ground floor, the living room has windows at either end, comfortable seating, a wood burning stove, satellite television, DVD player, music system and wireless internet access. There is a useful desk in this room too. Decorated in soft heather purples and with warm wood floors and a cosy rug, it’s a space that invites you to sink into it and relax.
The open plan kitchen and dining room is at the back of the house and feels like the heart of the home. It is a spacious room, filled with natural light, and the modern kitchen has all you will need for self-catering with plenty of workspace. A useful utility room at the end of the kitchen houses the washing machine and dryer. The dining table seats eight and there is a television provided in this space too. There is also a shower room with hand basin and w.c on the ground floor.
The staircase leads to the upper landing and gives access to four bedrooms, which includes two doubles and two twin rooms, and a family bathroom. The master bedroom has its own ensuite, with the added luxury of a Jacuzzi bath alongside the basin, w.c and shower. All the bathrooms in the house have a contemporary feel with quality sanitary ware. Bed linen and towels are provided for your stay.
Dervaig itself is a pretty little village where old stone buildings line the main street. The proximity to Loch a'Chumhainn (a narrow sea loch) and some nice sections of woodland, add to the beauty of the area and its wildlife and birdwatching opportunities.
The coastline in this area gives plenty of options for walks - Langamull and Port na Ba are both excellent beaches in this north-western area of Mull and Torloisk, a little further south offers beautiful woodland and another beach to explore. Travelling the west coast down to Ulva and across to the island itself, or out on a boat trip to the Treshnish islands is highly recommended too.
