Brooke Cottage is a great place to stay for keen birdwatchers and outdoor enthusiasts alike. Situated beside the tidal upper reaches of Loch Don in the south east of the Isle of Mull, this is a dynamic environment where the freshwater river (Abhainn Lirein) that flows beneath the old humpback bridge, meets the incoming tidal waters of the Loch. Deep pools are frequented by sea trout, and the banks are lined with a mix of willow, alder and birch; all of which help to attract a huge range of birds.
From Brooke Cottage there are great views across the open waters of Loch Don as well as over the grasslands of Auchnacraig. There is ample parking within the large lawned gardens at Brooke Cottage. Entering the house from the covered entrance way there is a hall with space to store belongings with access to the utility room.
The main doorway leads into the downstairs hallway, a large space from which all the ground floor accommodation leads off. There is a spacious kitchen with views of the water and access to the utility room, as well as a bathroom with shower, w.c and basin.
The dining room has fantastic views over the upper estuary from the large double doors which open to the wooden verandah with outside seating and table. There are great views toward a picturesque stone bridge from here, and steps lead down to the front lawn and driveway. There is a children's play house in the back garden with a selection of toys and games - ideal for entertaining little ones.
The living room is a bright and comfortable room with a large picture window overlooking Loch Don. There are ample comfortable seats and a good selection of books, games and even a complimentary telescope for guests to use.
Upstairs there is a large landing with all bedrooms to the front of the house, so all have views of the sea. The master double is a large room with plenty of storage for personal belongings. There is a second double bedroom and a large twin room with views to both the front and rear of the cottage. All bedrooms have good quality furnishings and bedding to make your stay a comfortable one.
The upstairs bathroom is a spacious and well appointed room with underfloor heating, a deep bath, large walk in shower, w.c and basin.
Guests will enjoy the high standard of self catering accommodation offered at Brooke Cottage. The excellent welcome pack and thoughtful extra touches make Brooke Cottage a really good base for a holiday on Mull for couples, families or friends.
