Avoch (pronounced Och) is located in the Isle of Mull’s main town, bright and colourful Tobermory. This Mull holiday cottage is situated up the hill from the main street at the foot of Western Road, a short walk from the harbour, and offers a very homely and welcoming place to stay that is impeccably maintained.
Avoch has private parking for several cars and a large lawned garden with a small burn running through it. There is also an outdoor dining and barbeque area, which gets sun late into the day. It’s the perfect spot to unwind with an alfresco supper or a glass of wine, listening to the gentle sound of water.
Entering the house, there is an open plan kitchen/dining area. The kitchen is lovely and bright and well equipped, with a good range of utensils and a large range cooker. There is a dining table for family meals.
A door leads through to the main living area, which is a large space with comfortable seating, a television and selection of books, games and DVDs. There is easy access to the garden from this room and a downstairs w.c. A second hallway comes off the living area and leads to a double and twin bedroom. Both these bedrooms are ensuite with showers, w.c. and basin. The double features a king size bed and has nice views over the garden.
A wooden staircase leads from the living area to the upstairs landing. There is a spacious family bathroom which has a bath with shower over, w.c. and basin. Also off the landing is a twin bedroom, with ample storage for belongings, and a second double bedroom.
Avoch is a charming and comfortable holiday cottage; guests will appreciate the little homely touches that make the house inviting as well as the quality furniture and furnishings. Bed linen and towels are provided for your stay and the house has central heating throughout.
From the house it is a short walk down to the harbour front where you may enjoy the shops, cafes and restaurants. Boat trips to see whales and explore Mull’s islands can be taken from Tobermory, as can a range of land based tours looking at Mull’s wildlife and landscapes.
Heading west, a thirty-minute drive leads to the white sandy beach at Calgary Bay, one of the island's most stunning beaches. Further on from Calgary down the west coast brings you to the shores of Loch na Keal, a large sea loch that is flanked by Mull’s highest mountains and a great place to do some exploring, be it walking or wildlife watching. There are also nice walks directly from the door of the cottage exploring the coastal woodlands and hills surrounding Tobermory harbour.
